"My fiance and I met at swing dancing...

and fell in love over our love of New Orleans Jazz, hiking, cooking (New Orleans food!), philosophy and science, mythology, camping, and Doctor Who. He proposed to me while out on a 5 day camping trip up at Ricketts Glen State Park, PA, which boasts a short 7 mile hike with no less than 26 pretty epic waterfalls. We stopped to build a giant cairn out of loose rocks under the tallest fall (as we do), and built a fairly complex structure, about 3 feet tall. We were decorating it with interesting little rocks. I turned to grab another one, and when I looked back, there was a little wooden box on top of the cairn.

I froze, and asked him what it was.

He opened the box, and it was a gorgeous diamond, set simply in a yellow gold band flanked by a pair of Irish love knots. My hands flew to my face, and I spent the next few minutes in a prolonged gasp. I was shocked. I had dreamed he would ask, but we'd only been dating for a year and half, and I figured he needed more time. Apparently not! I said yes, and we celebrated by cooking up a feast over the camp fire. We didn't have service up on the mini-mountain, so I couldn't call anyone right away, but the quiet time together with our little secret was incredibly special. We're planning a small wedding up in the Hudson Valley, where I grew up, and are aiming to center it around good food, good views, and good music. I plan to DIY a little with casual centerpieces and some hand painted items!" - Michelle

I was hooked on their wedding the moment I read her words! Naturally, we had to start the session off with some swing dancing! And since they share a love of hiking, we did their session at Wissahickon Valley Park - one of the biggest parts of Fairmount Park (the Philadelphia park system!). Michelle and Robb love to read together, so they brought a few of their favorites! :)

Michelle had the nerve to try and tell me she's not photogenic. Quick poll: Who disagrees? Oh...EVERYBODY! That's what I thought! :)

Love these two! I can't wait for their wedding at The Rhinecliff Hotel next year!
