I know that I'm extremely blessed to not only get along with all of my couples, but to also call them friends. Carl and Shawna have felt like friends since our first meeting, and that friendship continued over delicious dinners, double-date brunch in Brooklyn, and hot chocolate get-togethers at City Bakery. By their wedding day, I felt like I was watching friends I've known forever get married! Carl and Shawna are "old souls" that bonded over their love of old movies, history, and reading! I think Shawna’s love of reading has also made her a fantastic writer! Here are some words from the bride about their wedding day! :)
"From the beginning, Carl and I both knew that we wanted to stay clear of the "wedding hall" reception. We paid a visit to The Montauk Club, a gorgeous late 19th century building with features of the 1920's, and instantly fell in love! The venue really inspired us, and with the help of Sean Psomas of Wildflowers, we developed an "invitation to the reading lounge" concept in which we wanted our guests to feel as though they had been invited for a party in our antique study.
For our cocktail hour, we brought in a jazz pianist, Bunny Beck, and guests lounged in over sized leather chairs and on antique sofas. Continuing with the literary element of our theme, reception centerpieces were created using books dating from as early as 1900 and low arrangements of bright flowers. In lieu of table numbers, each table was named after a notable author. Guests were given bookmarks as favors. Overall, we feel we were successful in creating a celebration that was both unique and classic at the same time, just like us! We like to think our wedding was one for the books!"
A penny for good luck! And two of the most adorable bridesmaids ever!
Carl and Shawna arranged for a 1961 Rolls Royce Phantom to escort them around the city!
Five beautiful Italian sisters dancing the Tarantella! And they all danced the night away!
